Graduated from the Pakistan Military Academy at 12th PMA long course on 18 September in the top 10%

1965 

Fought Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, in the Khemkaran sector in Punjab as the commander of a company (military unit) of 100–150 soldiers. 

1969

Travelled to West Germany to receive advanced military and command training from the British Army of the Rhine and later spent a few months with the British Army.

1971

Revolt against Pakistan army and declared the independence of Bangladesh 

Took part in the war as the sector commander of sectors 1 and 11 and as brigade commander of Z force 

1975

Came into the central stage of Bangladesh’s political theater through the Sepahi-Janata revolution 

1977 

Became President of Bangladesh
